Kumihimo, the "gathering of threads" in Japanese, has arrived at Baltimore Beads! We have the disks, both round and square, the cords, specialty ribbons, bobbins. . .and instructional books, too. Use the Kumihimo to braid with leather, hemp cord, ribbons. . . whatever you can imagine!

In the picture above a bracelet has been woven with mutiple threads and pulled into cones to finish. A chain has been woven into the bracelet, so jump rings and charms or wire wrapping may be attached. Stop in at Baltimore Beads and see the finished product with dangles and Swarovski crystals.

We love how this unexpected combination of beads that started as a sample strand turned out. Who ever thought of matching malachite, fresh water pearls, brass, onyx, gold filled filigree, glass, and tourmaline?

People have been matching tourquoise with gold for a long time, but add the sparkle of faux diamonds and gold filled filagree, and watch out!! We also love the way polished gold beads and spacers and irregular tourquiose chips play off each other too! Sheek AND casual!

This little necklace is so sweet. We love this glass flower pendant so much that we couldn't resist stringing it with a strand of rose quartz. Notice how the bright pink thread shows up inside the translucent stones... just like the light and dark pink of the flower! Great with jeans or a cute little dress!

Projects Ideas: Casual Combinations

Leave it to Anita to put this combination together... large metallic tiger iron rounds evenly spaced with one large new jade horse pendant knotted on supple tan leather. This necklace can be worn long or looped twice around. The earthy colors and textures are so fun!

Freshwater pearls, abalone, and sterling silver... oh my! The colors work, the textures work, what more can we say?!

Check out our new resin beads... this color has the look of amber without the price! We love how Anita knotted six large beads on the center a short strand of brown leather cord. Beautiful!

Large faceted crystal beads in dark amber, red tigers eye mixed with sterling and copper caps and beads, all topped off with three gorgeous handmade touches: two copper coiled beads and one peyote stitch centerpeice bead... made from scratch! Leave it to David & Keri Mullen of Yoshi Glass to make green and gold look this good. This single one of a kind lampworked glass bead by Yoshi is shown on our gold tone neck wire. A simple design with a big impact!

Green African glass beads practically burst next to shiny, black onyx! The rough irregular texture of the glass really compliments the high polish of the onyx in petite rounds, elongated facets, and one large center doughnut pendant artfully hung with a chain tie... now that's creative!

Not for the faint of heart, this necklace is all about impact! Large faceted chocolate adventurine diamonds add a rich and elegant touch to our large oval shell beads. Each bead is delicately spaced with small sterling silver balls. Wow!

What Are You Doing Next Wednesday Sept 12?

It's our WEDNESDAY CLASS OPPORTUNITY with Sans!
Don't have time for all day classes or need your weekends...then try our "short" classes on Wednesday evenings from 6:30 to 8:30.
This coming week students will learn to solder jump rings with precut jump rings. A complete bracelet will be made...and will be completed by soldering on a premade clasp.
